BIO

MICHEILLE SOIFER

Callao - Perú

I grew up listening to Destiny’s Child, Thalía, Shakira, Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez, all of them are still divas and my inspiration. I did not have the opportunity to study music, I had to learn everything on the court, that was my best school.

I always believed that I would be an artist, at least that’s what I had in my heart. I knew that one day I would make it. Since I was little, everyone in my house used to sing at family gatherings. One of my aunts was a professional Creole singer, Aurelia Soifer. We all liked the music of the jaranas. I grew up with it.

I would not leave my house if I was not dressed or produced pretty because I told me “one day I’ll be famous and they have to remember me pretty.” I used to be the first in the school performances, I didn’t miss a single one. When I was 10 years old, I moved to the United States with my family, I started singing in English. Speaking English helped me a lot, it opened many doors for me. Also the style that I have to dance, to sing, I learned in the United States. I mixed what I had learned in Peru and what came from me, what I had within the family.

At 17 I started my musical career in Peru with Alma Bella, a cumbia group from Yolanda Medina, all my youth had grown up with other music. My music is not only for me, my music is also the experiences of my fans, situations that mark our lives, what we want and who we are. I want them to dance with me, feel, cry. It’s been a 15-year artistic career and I feel like I’ve done everything. I have traveled all over Peru and some neighboring countries, but I know that the best is yet to come.
